Not a big story in a game when 10th ranked Venom (1-7) was outscored by second ranked Knox Raiders (7-3) in Wantirna South 93-39 on Sunday. The game without a history. Knox Raiders led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. They held Venom to an opponent 25.0 percent shooting from the field compared to 46.2 percent accuracy of the winners. Knox Raiders forced 23 Venom turnovers and outrebounded them 48-35 including 37 on the defensive glass. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 28 assists comparing to just 10 passes made by Venom's players. American guard TaRea Cunnigan (175-93, college: San Jose St.) orchestrated the victory by scoring 19 points, 7 rebounds, 5 assists and 4 steals. Serbian guard Milica Ivanov (178-96) contributed with 11 points, 8 rebounds and 5 assists for the winners. Five Knox Raiders players scored in double figures. Meg Dargan replied with 12 points, 6 rebounds and 4 assists and Michelle Couling added 8 points and 6 rebounds in the effort for Venom. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Knox Raiders maintains second position in League with 7-3 record having just eleven point less than leader Brisbane S. Loser Venom dropped to the eleventh place with seven games lost. Knox Raiders will face Boomers (#5) in Bulleen in the next round. Venom will play at home against Hume City Broncos (#8) and hope to win that game.
