Regular Season Round 8: Waverley F. - McKinnon C. 86-63

Everything went according to plan when fourth ranked Falcons (5-3) outplayed 8th ranked Cougars (3-5) in Mount Waverley 86-63 on Sunday. Falcons dominated down low during the game scoring 62 of its points in the paint compared to Cougars' 40. Falcons forced 21 Cougars turnovers and outrebounded them 43-27 including 18 on the offensive glass. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 25 assists comparing to just 12 passes made by Cougars' players. Forward Kelly Bowen (182-89, college: Gonzaga) orchestrated the victory by scoring 35 points (!!!) and 8 rebounds. Tegan Cunninghan contributed with 27 points, 7 rebounds and 5 assists for the winners. Falcons' coach felt very confident using entire bench saving starting five for next games. American guard Ariel Thomas (168, college: Oregon) replied with 25 points, 6 rebounds and 6 assists and her fellow American import Morgan Pullins (183, college: St.Mary's, TX, agency: Two Points) added 13 points, 7 rebounds and 4 blocks (on 6-of-7 shooting from the field) in the effort for Cougars. Falcons maintains fourth position in League with 5-3 record. Loser Cougars dropped to the ninth place with five games lost. Falcons will face Sharks (#7) in the next round. Cougars will play against Hawks and hope to win that game.
