Regular Season Round 31: Galil Gilboa - Maccabi Ashdod 95-85

Rather predictable result in Rosh Pina where ninth ranked Galil Gilboa (14-17) defeated 11th ranked Maccabi Ashdod (12-19) 95-85. Maccabi Ashdod was ahead by 2 points at the halftime before a 49-37 second half run of Galil Gilboa. They made 20-of-22 charity shots (90.9 percent) during the game. They also forced 20 Maccabi Ashdod turnovers. Galil Gilboa players were unselfish on offense dishing 23 assists. Worth to mention a great performance of American Jason Siggers (194-85, college: Albany) who helped to win the game recording 30 points, 7 assists and 5 steals (made all of his nine free throws !!!). His fellow American import forward Eric Griffin (203-90, college: Campbell) contributed with 25 points and 6 rebounds for the winners. Four Galil Gilboa players scored in double figures. Galil Gilboa's coach Ariel Beit-Halamy allowed to play the deep bench players saving starting five for next games. The former international Jake Cohen (208-90, college: Davidson) answered with 27 points, 6 rebounds and 6 assists and American Chase Simon (201-89, college: Detroit Mercy, agency: Three Eye Sports) added 19 points, 6 rebounds and 8 assists in the effort for Maccabi Ashdod. Newly promoted Galil Gilboa maintains ninth place with 14-17 record. Maccabi Ashdod lost their third game in a row. They keep the eleventh position with 19 games lost. Galil Gilboa's next round opponent will be higher ranked Maccabi T-A (#3) in Tel-Aviv and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Maccabi Ashdod will play on the road against Hapoel Tel-Aviv (#10) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
