Very important is a home loss of second ranked Ferrocarril (34-21) against seventh ranked Quimsa (26-29) on Tuesday night. Host Ferrocarril was defeated by Quimsa in a tough game in Buenos Aires 104-108. Quimsa shot the lights out from three sinking 13 long-distance shots on high 61.9 percentage. The former international forward Nicolas Romano (200-87) stepped up and scored 26 points, 9 rebounds and 5 assists (on 10-of-13 shooting from the field) for the winners and American center Chris Daniels (205-84, college: Texas A&M-CC) chipped in 23 points and 9 rebounds. At the losing side American-Puerto Rican Ramon Clemente (200-85, college: Wichita St.) responded with 26 points and 9 rebounds and naturalized Spanish guard Jonathan Maldonado (188-90) scored 12 points, 6 rebounds and 5 assists. Both teams had five players each who scored in double figures. Ferrocarril's coach Alvaro Castineira rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. Quimsa maintains seventh place with 26-29 record, which they share with Quilmes MP. Loser Ferrocarril keeps the second position with 21 games lost. Quimsa will meet at home higher ranked Olimpico de La Banda (#4) in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Ferrocarril will have a break next round.
