Regular Season Round 16: Toros - Gigantes 101-95

Very important is a road loss of third ranked Gigantes (13-17) against fourth ranked Toros (10-17) on Tuesday night. Visiting Gigantes were defeated by Toros in a tough game in Maracay 95-101. Gigantes were plagued by 25 personal fouls down the stretch. Worth to mention a great performance of Dominican guard Kelvin Pena (193-80, college: Southeastern CC, agency: Basket Management Solutions) who helped to win the game recording 36 points (!!!) and 6 assists and American-Peruvian point guard Kyle Fuller (185-92, college: Vanderbilt) who added 25 points, 6 rebounds and 5 assists during the contest. Toros' coach Israel Sarmiento used an eleven-player rotation which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. At the losing side American Quinnel Brown (198-83, college: Auburn) responded with 28 points and 5 rebounds and his fellow American import point guard Horace Wormely (168-84, college: Vanguard) scored 13 points and 5 assists. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Toros have a solid four-game winning streak. They maintain fourth position with 10-17 record. Gigantes lost third consecutive game. They keep the third place with 17 games lost. Toros will face league's leader Guaiqueries in Porlamar in the next round and it may be the game of the week. Gigantes will play at home against Gaiteros and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
