Regular Season Round 27: Mazatlan - Los Mochis 91-99

There was a minor upset when 6th ranked Lobos UAD Mazatlan (12-14) was defeated at home by eighth ranked Pioneros Los Mochis (10-16) 99-91 on Wednesday. The guests trailed by 5 points at the halftime before their 60-47 charge in the second half, which allowed them to win the game. Pioneros Los Mochis made 21-of-26 free shots (80.8 percent) during the game. The game was also dominated by American players. It was a great evening for guard Tamir Jackson (190-90, college: Rice) who led his team to a victory scoring 18 points, 5 rebounds and 9 assists. Forward Terrance Motley (201-91, college: Sam Houston St.) helped adding 20 points, 5 rebounds and 4 assists. The best for the losing side was swingman Cliff Tucker (198-89, college: Maryland) with 27 points and 4 assists and forward Shane Edwards (201-87, college: UALR) scored 22 points. Five Pioneros Los Mochis and four Lobos UAD Mazatlan players scored in double figures. Lobos UAD Mazatlan's coach let to play ten players, but that didn't help to avoid defeat in this game. Pioneros Los Mochis maintains eighth place with 10-16 record. Defending champion Lobos UAD Mazatlan keeps the sixth position with 14 games lost. Pioneros Los Mochis will meet higher ranked Tijuana Zonkeys (#3) on the road in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Lobos UAD Mazatlan will play against Caballeros de Culiacan and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
