Regular Season Round 27: Guasave - Guaymas 86-80

Very important is a road loss of third ranked Ostioneros de Guaymas (14-12) against fifth ranked Frayles de Guasave (13-13) on Wednesday night. Visiting Ostioneros de Guaymas were defeated by Frayles de Guasave in a tough game in Guasave 80-86. It ended at the same time the two-game winning streak of Ostioneros de Guaymas. The hosts were ahead by 8 points but lost the second period ending it with a 3-point deficit before their 26-17 run, which allowed them to win the game. The game was dominated by American players. It was a good game for forward Elijah Pittman (206-91, college: Marshall, agency: Aspire Sports) who led his team to a victory with 21 points, 6 rebounds and 5 assists (on 10-of-13 shooting from the field). Forward Travis Franklin (200-88, college: Colorado St., agency: Interperformances) contributed with 21 points for the winners. Forward BJ West (211-89, college: Jackson St.) answered with 18 points and 8 rebounds and guard Paul Marigney (192-82, college: St.Mary's, CA) added 15 points and 9 assists in the effort for Ostioneros de Guaymas. Four Frayles de Guasave and five Ostioneros de Guaymas players scored in double figures. Ostioneros de Guaymas' coach rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. Frayles de Guasave maintains fifth place with 13-13 record. Ostioneros de Guaymas at the other side dropped to the fourth position with 12 games lost. Frayles de Guasave will play against league's leader Rayos de Hermosillo on the road in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Ostioneros de Guaymas will play against Garra Canera de Navolato and hope to get back on the winning track.
