There was a minor upset when 4th placed FC Barcelona (21-10) was defeated at home by sixth ranked CB Canarias (21-10) 73-65 on Thursday. The guests trailed by 1 point at the halftime before their 41-32 charge in the second half, which allowed them to win the game. CB Canarias shot the lights out from three sinking 14 long-distance shots on high 56.0 percentage. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 21 assists. The best player for the winners was Canadian-Dutch forward Aaron Doornekamp (201-85, agency: Interperformances) who scored 20 points, 6 rebounds and 4 assists. Greek center Giorgos Bogris (210-89) chipped in 12 points. At the other side the best for losing team was Croatian center Ante Tomic (217-87, agency: XL Basketball Agency) who recorded 16 points and 8 rebounds and international Victor Claver (207-88) added 11 points and 7 rebounds respectively. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Defending champion moved-up to fourth place, which they share with FC Barcelona and Unicaja. CB Canarias will meet at home bottom-ranked La ICL Manresa (#17) in the next round which should be an easy win for them. FC Barcelona will play against Blusens Monbus (#13) in Santoago de Comp and hope to secure a win.
