Regular Season Round 32: Hapoel J-M - Maccabi Haifa 69-63
Date: May 11, 2017
No shocking result in a game when fourth ranked Hapoel Jerusalem (18-14) defeated at home 8th ranked Maccabi Haifa (15-17) 69-63 on Thursday. However just six-point win is not that big difference and the fans of host team counted on more convincing victory. The hosts took control from the first minutes by winning first half. But Maccabi Haifa won third quarter 17-13. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. The game was decided in the last minutes when Hapoel Jerusalem won last quarter 21-16. Worth to mention a great performance of naturalized American power forward Richard Howell (203-90, college: N.Carolina St.) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 12 points and 11 rebounds and the former international forward Lior Eliyahu (205-85) who added 8 points, 5 rebounds, 5 assists and 4 steals during the contest. Naturalized American point guard John DiBartolomeo (183-91, college: Rochester, agency: Duran International) responded with 11 points and international swingman Amit Simhon (198-89, agency: Avi Zilberman) scored 13 points. Hapoel Jerusalem maintains fourth position with 18-14 record, which they share with Bnei Hertzeliyya. Maccabi Haifa lost fourth consecutive game. They keep the eighth place with 17 games lost. They share the position with Galil Gilboa. Hapoel Jerusalem will meet bottom-ranked Maccabi K/G (#12) in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Maccabi Haifa will play against Hapoel Tel-Aviv (#10) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
