Very important is a road loss of first ranked Mount Gambier Pioneers (8-1) against fourth ranked Bendigo Braves (5-6) on Saturday night. Visiting Mount Gambier Pioneers were crushed by Bendigo Braves in Bendigo 92-71. Bendigo Braves outrebounded Mount Gambier Pioneers 45-28 including 16 on the offensive glass. The best player for the winners was American guard Dyami Starks (188-92, college: Bryant) who scored 32 points and 6 rebounds. His fellow American import power forward C.J. Aiken (206-90, college: St.Joseph's) chipped in a double-double by scoring 23 points and 14 rebounds. Bendigo Braves' coach felt very confident that he used entire bench and allowed the starting five to rest. The former international swingman Brad Hill (196-86) produced 16 points and 5 rebounds and John Jones added 9 points and 8 rebounds respectively for the guests. Bendigo Braves maintains fourth place in League with 5-6 record. Mount Gambier Pioneers at the other side still keep top position with one game lost. Bendigo Braves' next round opponent will be league's leader Spectres in East Burwood and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Mount Gambier Pioneers will play at home against Frankston Blues and hope to win that game.
