Everything went according to plan when third ranked Geelong Supercats (6-3) outplayed 8th ranked Frankston Blues (1-8) in Seaford 101-77 on Saturday. Geelong Supercats had a 31-19 advantage in offensive rebounds. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 24 assists comparing to just 10 passes made by Frankston Blues' players. The former international swingman Nathan Herbert (192-84) orchestrated the victory by scoring 34 points (!!!). Power forward Ma'Alo Hicks (201-89) contributed with a double-double by scoring 13 points and 11 rebounds for the winners. American forward Alex Francis (198-91, college: Bryant, agency: Pro Partner Sports Management) answered with a double-double by scoring 20 points and 10 rebounds and naturalized American swingman Bennie Lewis (203-87, college: Benedict) added 15 points in the effort for Frankston Blues. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Geelong Supercats moved-up to second place in League. Loser Frankston Blues keep the eighth position with eight games lost. Geelong Supercats will face Bendigo Braves (#4) at home in the next round. Frankston Blues will play against Tigers (#6) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
