The most crucial game of the last round was the first loss of undefeated Cairns Marlins (3-1) on the court of leader Brisbane Capitals on Saturday night. Visitors were defeated by Brisbane Capitals 98-92. It was a key game for the top position in League. Brisbane Capitals forced 21 Cairns Marlins turnovers. Strangely Cairns Marlins outrebounded Brisbane Capitals 52-29 including a 33-20 advantage in defensive rebounds. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 23 assists. American point guard Aaron Anderson (178, college: N.Dakota) orchestrated the victory by scoring 33 points (!!!) and 6 rebounds. American-Nigerian guard Princeton Onwas (198-93, college: San Jose St.) contributed with 24 points and 7 rebounds for the winners. The former international power forward Alexander Loughton (206-83, college: ODU) answered with a double-double by scoring 24 points and 14 rebounds and point guard Damon Heuir (191-91, college: S.Utah) added 22 points and 8 rebounds in the effort for Cairns Marlins. Five Cairns Marlins players scored in double figures. Brisbane Capitals maintains first place in League with 3-0 record. Cairns Marlins at the other side dropped to the third position with one game lost. Both teams do not play next round, which will be an opportunity for some rest.
