Regular Season Round 33: Maccabi Haifa - Hapoel T-A 95-79

No shocking result in a game when eighth ranked Maccabi Haifa (16-17) beat at home 10th ranked Hapoel Tel-Aviv (14-19) 95-79. It looked good early as Hapoel Tel-Aviv took a 6-point lead at the end of first quarter. But then Maccabi Haifa had a 27-17 second period charge getting the lead and Hapoel Tel-Aviv was not able to take back game control losing it eventually 79-95. Maccabi Haifa forced 21 Hapoel Tel-Aviv turnovers. Their players were unselfish on offense dishing 25 assists. The best player for the winners was Venezuelan point guard Gregory Vargas (180-86, agency: Pro Sports) who had a double-double by scoring 19 points and 12 assists. American power forward Kevinn Pinkney (207-83, college: Nevada, agency: Pro Sports) chipped in a double-double by scoring 23 points and 12 rebounds (on 10-of-11 shooting from the field). At the other side the best for losing team was international Tomer Ginat (202-94, agency: Avi Zilberman) who recorded 13 points and 7 rebounds and American point guard Mark Lyons (185-89, college: Arizona, agency: Higher Vision Sports) added 13 points and 4 assists respectively. Five Maccabi Haifa and four Hapoel Tel-Aviv players scored in double figures. Both coaches tested many bench players and allowed the starting five to rest. Maccabi Haifa maintains eighth place with 16-17 record. Hapoel Tel-Aviv at the other side keeps the tenth position with 19 games lost.
