Regular Season Round 28: Mazatlan - Culiacan 84-83

The most exciting game of round 28 in the CIBACOPA took place in Mazatlan. This derby game ended with only one-point defeat on the road of 7th ranked Caballeros de Culiacan (11-16) to sixth ranked Lobos UAD Mazatlan (12-15) 84-83 on Tuesday evening. The hosts trailed by 10 points after first quarter, but they rallied back winning two of next three quarters and won the game by 1 point. American players dominated the game. Worth to mention a great performance of point guard Pe'shon Howard (190-90, college: USC) who helped to win the game recording 22 points and 6 rebounds. Forward Omar Thomas (196-82, college: UTEP) contributed with 14 points and 5 rebounds for the winners. Four Lobos UAD Mazatlan players scored in double figures. Lobos UAD Mazatlan's coach Eric Weissling used an eleven-player rotation in such tough game. Guard Chris Crawford (193-92, college: Memphis, agency: Babcock Sports) replied with 27 points, 9 rebounds and 5 assists and center Benjamin Puckett (205-83, college: Clayton St.) added 17 points, 11 rebounds and 4 assists in the effort for Caballeros de Culiacan. Defending champion maintains sixth position with 12-15 record, which they share with Los Mochis. Caballeros de Culiacan at the other side dropped to the eighth place with 16 games lost. Lobos UAD Mazatlan is again looking forward to face Caballeros de Culiacan (#8) at home in the next round. Caballeros de Culiacan will have a break next round.
