Regular Season Round 29: Mazatlan - Culiacan 97-85

Seventh ranked Lobos UAD Mazatlan (13-15) beat at home 8th ranked Caballeros de Culiacan (11-17) by 12 points 97-85, which is the biggest margin this round. It looked good early as Caballeros de Culiacan took a 1-point small lead at the end of first quarter. But then Lobos UAD Mazatlan had a 25-14 second period charge getting the lead and Caballeros de Culiacan was not able to take back game control losing it eventually 85-97. Americans were the main players on the court. Forward Omar Thomas (196-82, college: UTEP) orchestrated the victory by scoring 19 points and 8 rebounds. Point guard Peshon Howard (190-90, college: USC) contributed with 20 points for the winners. Lobos UAD Mazatlan's coach Eric Weissling used entire bench and allowed the starting five to rest. Guard Chris Crawford (193-92, college: Memphis, agency: Babcock Sports) answered with 17 points and center Benjamin Puckett (205-83, college: Clayton St.) added 11 points and 10 rebounds in the effort for Caballeros de Culiacan. Four Lobos UAD Mazatlan and five Caballeros de Culiacan players scored in double figures. Defending champion moved-up to sixth place. Caballeros de Culiacan at the other side keeps the eighth position with 17 games lost. Lobos UAD Mazatlan's next round opponent will be Garra Canera de Navolato (#8) at home. Caballeros de Culiacan will play against Ostioneros de Guaymas and hope to win that game.
