Bottom-ranked Penarol (0-5) is still winless. This time they could not use their home court advantage losing their fifth consecutive match to fourth ranked Velez S. (2-3) 70-58 on Friday evening. The game was mostly controlled by Velez S.. Penarol was better in third quarter 19-14. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Velez S. forced 22 Penarol turnovers. Worth to mention a great performance of international swingman Macarena Rosset (178-91, agency: Players Group) who helped to win the game recording 21 points, 9 rebounds and 8 assists and the former international point guard Sandra Pavon (175-85) who added 16 points and 8 rebounds during the contest. Velez S.'s coach used entire bench which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. At the losing side American guard Kama Griffitts (183-91, college: Arizona) responded with 15 points, 8 rebounds and 7 assists and Croatian center Jovana Mandic (193-92, college: Nicholls St., agency: ProDep Management) scored 8 points and 12 rebounds. Velez S. maintains fourth position in Sur with 2-3 record. Loser Penarol still closes the standings with five games lost. Velez S. will face league's leader Union Florida on the road in the next round and it may be the game of the week.
