There was an upset when much higher ranked Geelong Supercats (8-4) were defeated at home by sixth ranked NW Tasmania Thunder (4-8) 92-87 on Friday. NW Tasmania Thunder shot 26 for 37 from the free-throw line, while Geelong Supercats only scored eight points from the stripe. Geelong Supercats were plagued by 27 personal fouls down the stretch. Guard Daniel Sepokas (190-90, college: Lees-McRae) stepped up and scored 17 points, 9 rebounds and 6 assists for the winners and power forward Chudier Pal (205-91, college: NC-Asheville) chipped in 13 points, 14 rebounds and 4 blocks.
