Regular Season Round 11: Perth R. - Willetton T. 79-86

We cannot really consider it an upset in the game between close teams in Northbridge where 5th ranked Redbacks (6-5) were defeated by sixth ranked Tigers (7-5) 86-79 on Friday. Tigers forced 20 Redbacks turnovers. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 21 assists. Redbacks were plagued by 27 personal fouls down the stretch. It was a great evening for guard Stacey Barr (173-92, college: Idaho) who led her team to a victory scoring 23 points, 8 rebounds and 4 assists (was perfect 10-for-10 from the free throw line !!!). German power forward Jessica Hootmann (190-85) helped adding 25 points and 6 rebounds. Guard Gabriella Clayton (173-90) responded with 19 points, 8 rebounds and 6 assists and American forward Emilee Harmon (188, college: Ohio St.) scored 18 points and 9 rebounds. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Tigers moved-up to fifth place in League. Loser Redbacks dropped to the sixth position with five games lost. Tigers will face higher ranked Lightning (#4) in Bullcreek in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Redbacks will play at home against Suns and hope to win that game.
