Another exciting game was a derby match between two local teams from Brisbane: Brisbane Capitals (#1) and Brisbane Spartans (#8). Brisbane Spartans were defeated at home 86-99 and even the advantage of their own court did not help. Brisbane Capitals forced 23 Brisbane Spartans turnovers. Strangely Brisbane Spartans outrebounded Brisbane Capitals 51-38 including a 26-14 advantage in offensive rebounds. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 22 assists. Naturalized American forward Dusty Rychart (201-78, college: Minnesota) fired a double-double by scoring 13 points, 19 rebounds, 7 assists and 4 steals for the winners. American-Nigerian guard Princeton Onwas (198-93, college: San Jose St.) chipped in 22 points and 9 rebounds. Five Brisbane Capitals players scored in double figures. The former international center Tom Jervis (211-87, college: Troy) produced a double-double by scoring 39 points (!!!), 23 rebounds and 4 assists and swingman Ryan Jeffries (192-86) added 16 points and 5 rebounds respectively for lost side. Brisbane Spartans' coach tested ten players, but that didn't help to avoid defeat in this game. Despite that victory Brisbane Capitals went down to second position (League) due to points difference. Loser Brisbane Spartans dropped to the tenth place with three games lost. Brisbane Capitals will meet at home Gladstone Port City Power (#12) in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Brisbane Spartans will play against Gladstone Port City Power and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
