Everything went according to plan in Hamilton Hill where fourth ranked Lightning (8-4) beat 9th ranked Cougars (3-9) 90-81 on Saturday. Lightning looked well-organized offensively handing out 22 assists. Americans were the main players on the court. It was a great evening for forward Sydnee Fipps (178, college: Cal-Davis) who led her team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 24 points, 11 rebounds and 7 assists. Forward Ali Schwagmeyer (180-90, college: Quincy) helped adding 28 points and 5 assists. Forward Kersten Mitchell (185-90, college: Illinois) responded with 24 points and 8 rebounds and forward Lindsey Doucette (190-94, college: Mass.-Lowell) scored 18 points, 7 rebounds and 4 assists. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Lightning maintains fourth place in League with 8-4 record. Loser Cougars dropped to the tenth position with nine games lost. Lightning will face Tigers (#5) in Willeton in the next round. Cougars will play on the road against Flames (#8) in Rockingham and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
