There was a small surprise in Morley where tenth ranked Stirling S. (7-5) defeated 8th ranked Eagles (6-9) 91-87 on Saturday. Stirling S. made 19-of-22 free shots (86.4 percent) during the game. They also forced 19 Eagles turnovers. Strangely Eagles outrebounded Stirling S. 41-27 including 27 on the defensive glass. Eagles were plagued by 24 personal fouls down the stretch. The former international forward Rhys Vague (204-96) stepped up and scored 22 points, 8 rebounds and 7 assists for the winners and guard Corban Wroe (185-92, college: Hartford) chipped in 16 points. At the losing side guard Mason Bragg (182-93) responded with 22 points, 8 rebounds and 6 assists and American center Kevin Davis (206-91, college: Cent.Washington) produced a double-double by scoring 15 points, 13 rebounds and 4 assists. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Stirling S. moved-up to fifth place in League. Loser Eagles dropped to the tenth position with nine games lost. Stirling S. will face higher ranked Wanneroo (#3) in Joondalup in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Eagles will play on the road against Hawks (#11) in Floreat and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
