Regular Season Round 13: Werribee D. - Hawthorn M. 71-85

There was an upset in Werribee where higher ranked Devils (7-5) were defeated by eleventh ranked Magic (4-6) 85-71 on Saturday. Magic forced 26 Devils turnovers. Jack Barry (-94) stepped up and scored 18 points, 9 rebounds and 6 assists for the winners and forward Alex Bogart-King (200) chipped in 22 points and 5 steals. Four Magic players scored in double figures. Magic's coach used a ten-player rotation which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. At the losing side American guard Jeremy Smith (190, college: Nicholls St.) responded with a double-double by scoring 33 points (!!!) and 10 rebounds and the other American import guard Jordan Hughes (192-92, college: Dakota St.) scored 7 points and 6 rebounds. Magic moved-up to eighth place in League. Loser Devils keep the fifth position with five games lost. Magic will face Whittlesea City (#12) in Mill Park in the next round. Devils will play at home against the league's leader Ringwood Hawks (#1) having rather not much hope for a victory.
