We could consider it a predictable result in the game between close teams when fourth ranked Bankstown Bruins (7-4) won against on the road 3rd placed Maitland Mustangs (7-5) 91-79 on Saturday. Forward Nic Pozoglou (196, agency: MKP Management) stepped up with a double-double by scoring 25 points and 12 rebounds for the winners and the former international guard Steven Markovic (190-85) chipped in 24 points, 7 rebounds and 7 assists. At the losing side American forward Tyler Monroe (201, college: Azusa Pacific) responded with a double-double by scoring 25 points and 19 rebounds and Jack Edwards scored 8 points, 6 rebounds and 8 assists. Four Maitland Mustangs players scored in double figures. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Bankstown Bruins moved-up to third place in League. Loser Maitland Mustangs dropped to the fifth position with five games lost. Bankstown Bruins will face league's second-placed Spiders in Hornsby in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week. Maitland Mustangs will play at home against the league's leader Sydney City Comets and hope to win that game.
