The game had a very big importance for second-ranked Condores as it allowed them to take a leadership position. Condores defeated bottom-ranked Academia in Cundinamarca 86-78. Worth to mention a great performance of international forward Luis Almanza (196-91) who helped to win the game recording 24 points and 9 rebounds. Naturalized Venezuelan swingman Hector Diaz (197-92) contributed with 25 points and 5 assists for the winners. Condores' coach Tomas Diaz used a ten-player rotation which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Canadian point guard Tyler Murray (195-90, college: Wagner) replied with 24 points, 5 rebounds and 4 assists (on 10-of-13 shooting from the field) and Dominican Oscar Balbuena (195-94) added 27 points in the effort for Academia. Condores have a solid three-game winning streak. As mentioned above they are at the top of the standings, which they share with Sabios. Defending champion Academia still closes the standings with two games lost. They share the position with Bucaros.
