There was no surprise when 10th ranked Aguilas Doradas de Durango (9-25) was defeated at home by seventh ranked Pioneros Los Mochis (16-19) 88-83. Pioneros Los Mochis outrebounded Aguilas Doradas de Durango 43-28 including 16 on the offensive glass. The winners were led by American forward Terrance Motley (201-91, college: Sam Houston St.) who scored that evening 19 points and 9 rebounds and Manuel Hernandez supported him with 24 points. Four Pioneros Los Mochis players scored in double figures. Even 25 points (on 8-of-10 shooting from the field) by American guard Ronnie Battle (185, college: Chattahoochee V.) did not help to save the game for Aguilas Doradas de Durango. His fellow American import forward Roscoe Smith (206-91, college: UNLV) added 15 points and 6 rebounds. Aguilas Doradas de Durango's coach tried various players' combinations and tested in total twelve players in this game, but that didn't help.
