Regular Season Round 5: Aguilas - Academia 81-83

A very close game took place in Boyaca between Academia and Patriotas. Sixth ranked Academia (1-3) got a very close victory on the road over 8th ranked Patriotas (2-4). Academia managed to escape with a 2-point win 83-81 on Tuesday evening. Academia dominated down low during the game scoring 60 of its points in the paint compared to Patriotas' 40. The best player for the winners was Canadian point guard Tyler Murray (195-90, college: Wagner) who scored 26 points, 7 rebounds and 5 assists. Dominican Oscar Balbuena (195-94) chipped in 16 points, 5 rebounds and 6 assists. Academia's coach used a ten-player rotation in such tough game. American Karl Moore (203-87, college: Culver Stockton) produced a double-double by scoring 29 points and 21 rebounds and the other American import forward Frisco Sandidge (198-87, college: Delaware St.) added 16 points and 11 rebounds respectively for the hosts. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. It was the only win of guest team this round and in all other games host teams recorded victories. Despite that victory Academia went down to eighth position due to points difference. It was Patriotas' fourth loss in a row. They dropped to the sixth place with four games lost. They share the position with Piratas. Academia will have a break next round, and it should allow them to practice more before next game. Patriotas will play again against Academia (#8) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
