Regular Season Round 37: Obregon - Guaymas 111-113

The most exciting game of round 37 in the CIBACOPA took place in Ciudad Obregon. This derby game ended with only two-point home defeat of much higher ranked Halcones de Ciudad Obregon (24-12) to fourth ranked Ostioneros de Guaymas (19-17) 113-111 on Wednesday evening. It ended at the same time the four-game winning streak of Halcones de Ciudad Obregon. Ostioneros de Guaymas made 21-of-25 free shots (84.0 percent) during the game. 24 personal fouls committed by Halcones de Ciudad Obregon helped opponents get some easy free throw opportunities. Worth to mention a great performance of American point guard Carl Jones (180-91, college: St.Joseph's, agency: DTMones) who helped to win the game recording 45 points (!!!). His fellow American import forward BJ West (211-89, college: Jackson St.) contributed with 21 points and 9 rebounds (on 8-of-9 shooting from the field) for the winners. American swingman Glen Rice-Jr (198-91, college: Georgia Tech) answered with 31 points, 9 rebounds and 4 assists and forward Idris Alvarado (196-91) added 21 points and 6 rebounds (on 9-of-11 shooting from the field) in the effort for Halcones de Ciudad Obregon. Both teams had five players each who scored in double figures. Ostioneros de Guaymas maintains fourth place with 19-17 record. Halcones de Ciudad Obregon at the other side keeps the second position with 12 games lost. Ostioneros de Guaymas are looking forward to face league's leader Rayos de Hermosillo at home in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Halcones de Ciudad Obregon will play against Lobos UAD Mazatlan and is hoping to win this game.
