Regular Season Round 7: Sabios - Piratas 86-75

The game with biggest result difference took place in Manizales. Local Sabios (4-3) beat 8th ranked Piratas (2-5) 86-75. The game was mostly controlled by Sabios. Piratas was better in second period 15-13. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. They made 20-of-25 charity shots (80.0 percent) during the game. Sabios players were unselfish on offense dishing 26 assists comparing to just 8 passes made by Piratas' players. It was a quality performance for Canadian guard Ashton Smith (187-89, college: Indiana, PA) who led the winners with a double-double by scoring 18 points, 8 rebounds and 12 assists. Canadian guard Shamar Coombs (185-86, college: Texas A&M-CC) accounted for 26 points, 6 rebounds and 5 assists for the winning side. Sabios' coach Ruddy Martinez used entire bench which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Venezuelan forward Jhon Romero (199-85) came up with a double-double by scoring 25 points and 12 rebounds and American forward Titus Mims (201-90, college: Hardin-Simmons) added 15 points and 6 rebounds respectively for Piratas in the defeat. Sabios moved-up to third place. Piratas lost third consecutive game. They stay at the bottom position with five games lost. Sabios' next round opponent will be again bottom-ranked Piratas (#8) in Bogota which should be theoretically an easy game.
