Regular Season Round 15: Sunshine CR - SW Metro P. 72-80

Undefeated Sunshine CR (4-1) recorded its first loss at the home court on Friday night. Hosts were defeated by ninth ranked South West Metro Pirates (3-4) 80-72. South West Metro Pirates outrebounded Sunshine CR 46-24 including a 37-20 advantage in defensive rebounds. 27 personal fouls committed by Sunshine CR helped opponents get some easy free throw opportunities. The best player for the winners was American forward Tanner McGrew (203-93, college: W.Virg.Wesl., agency: Duran International) who had a double-double by scoring 26 points and 13 rebounds. The former international power forward Daniel Kickert (208-83, college: St.Mary's, CA) chipped in 20 points, 6 rebounds and 4 assists. Four South West Metro Pirates players scored in double figures. At the other side the best for losing team was American guard Lance Hurdle (188-87, college: Miami, FL) who recorded 26 points and 5 steals and guard Isaih Tueta (187-91) added 19 points, 6 rebounds and 5 assists respectively. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. South West Metro Pirates moved-up to seventh place in League. Sunshine CR at the other side dropped to the fifth position with one game lost. South West Metro Pirates are looking forward to face Gladstone Port City Power (#13) on the road in the next round which should be theoretically an easy game. Sunshine CR will play against Maroochydore Clippers (#9) in Cotton Tree and is hoping to win this game.
