Rather predictable result in Northbridge where fourth ranked Lightning (10-4) beat 6th ranked Redbacks (6-7) 76-63 on Saturday. American forward Ali Schwagmeyer (180-90, college: Quincy) fired 28 points and 7 rebounds for the winners. Her fellow American import forward Sydnee Fipps (178, college: Cal-Davis) chipped in a double-double by scoring 23 points and 10 rebounds. Lightning's coach used entire bench and allowed the starting five to get some rest. New Zealand forward Lisa Wallbutton (183-86) produced 8 points and 17 rebounds and Rebecca Benson added 16 points respectively for lost side. Lightning maintains fourth place in League with 10-4 record. Loser Redbacks dropped to the seventh position with seven games lost. Lightning will face league's leader Magic in Mandurah in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Redbacks will play on the road against Senators (#3) in Leederville and hope to win that game.
