The game had a very big importance for second-ranked Magic as it allowed them to take a leadership position in League. Magic smashed 9th ranked Cougars in Mandurah 79-59. They outrebounded Cougars 53-38 including 21 on the offensive glass. 24 personal fouls committed by Cougars helped opponents get some easy free throw opportunities. Forward Carly Boag (188-95, college: Minot St.) fired a double-double by scoring 18 points and 23 rebounds for the winners. Nicolette Gilday chipped in 26 points and 7 rebounds (made all of her eight free throws). Magic's coach used a ten-player rotation which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. American forward Lindsey Doucette (190-94, college: Mass.-Lowell) produced a double-double by scoring 15 points, 12 rebounds and 4 assists and the other American import guard Brianna Moyes (170, college: Akron) added 16 points respectively for lost side. As mentioned above they are alone now at the top position. Cougars at the other side dropped to the eighth place with ten games lost. Cougars will play next round against strong Senators trying to get back on the winning streak. Magic will try to continue on its current victory against fifth ranked Tigers in Willeton.
