The game in Bogota was also worth to mention about. Third ranked Academia (5-3) played at the court of 8th ranked Piratas (3-7). Academia defeated Piratas 81-65. The game was mostly controlled by Academia. Piratas was better in third quarter 24-16. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Academia dominated down low during the game scoring 54 of its points in the paint compared to Piratas' 28. They outrebounded Piratas 44-31 including a 32-19 advantage in defensive rebounds. Academia players were unselfish on offense dishing 22 assists comparing to just 8 passes made by Piratas' players. Worth to mention a great performance of Canadian point guard Tyler Murray (195-90, college: Wagner) who helped to win the game recording 20 points and 6 assists (made all of his seven free throws). The former international power forward Divier Perez (201-89) contributed with 15 points and 7 rebounds for the winners. Academia's coach allowed to play the deep bench players saving starting five for next games. Guard Gerson Pena (186-86) replied with 19 points and Venezuelan forward Jhon Romero (199-85) added 13 points and 7 rebounds in the effort for Piratas. Four Piratas players scored in double figures. Academia have a solid four-game winning streak. Defending champion maintains third position with 5-3 record having just two points less than leader Fast Break, which they share with Cimarrones. Piratas at the other side stay at the bottom place with seven games lost. They share the position with Aguilas and Condores. Academia will play against league's second-placed Sabios in Manizales in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week. Piratas will play on the road against the league's leader Fast Break (#1) in Bogota and hope to get back on the winning track.
