Very predictable result when second ranked Meteorettes (8-2) rolled over bottom-ranked Rollers (0-9) in Gold Coast 74-39 on Friday. Meteorettes held Rollers to an opponent 22.0 percent shooting from the field compared to 38.5 percent accuracy of the winners. Meteorettes forced 20 Rollers turnovers and outrebounded them 52-31 including a 21-9 advantage in offensive rebounds. Forward Jacqui Zelenka (169-92) orchestrated the victory with a double-double by scoring 17 points and 12 rebounds. Forward Tami Willey (183-79) contributed with 16 points and 6 rebounds for the winners. Sophie Johnston replied with 10 points and 7 rebounds and Shanelle Tolley added 5 points and 9 rebounds in the effort for Rollers. Since the result was very predictable, it gave the chance for the coaches to test many bench players and allowed the starting five to rest. Despite that victory Meteorettes went down to third position (League) due to points difference. Loser Rollers still closes the standings with nine games lost. Meteorettes will face Power (#6) in Gladstone in the next round. Rollers will play on the road against Dolphins (#5) in Cairns and hope to get finally their first victory.
