Regular Season Round 16: Cockburn C. - Stirling S. 92-87

Everything went according to plan when fifth ranked Cougars (10-8) defeated 9th ranked Stirling S. (8-9) in Hamilton Hill 92-87 on Friday. However just five-point win is not that big difference and the fans of host team counted on more convincing victory. The hosts took control from the first minutes by winning first half. But Stirling S. won third quarter 25-22. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. It was a very good performance for American forward Jalen Billups (198-92, college: N.Kentucky, agency: Haylett Sports) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 25 points and 19 rebounds. Point guard Lochlan Cummings (183, college: Hope International) contributed with 21 points, 6 rebounds and 5 assists for the winners. American center Andrew Naymick (209-85, college: Michigan St.) replied with a double-double by scoring 12 points and 12 rebounds and the former international forward Cody Ellis (203-90, college: St.Louis) added 14 points, 6 rebounds and 5 assists in the effort for Stirling S.Four Cougars and five Stirling S. players scored in double figures. Stirling S.'s coach tested ten players in this game, but that didn't help. Despite that victory Cougars went down to sixth position (League) due to points difference. Loser Stirling S. dropped to the seventh place with nine games lost. Cougars will face Eagles (#11) in Morley in the next round where they are favorite. Stirling S. will play on the road against Flames (#10) in Rockingham and hope to win that game.
