There was no surprise when 7th ranked Rockhampton Rockets (3-6) lost on the road to third ranked Cairns Marlins (7-2) 90-83 on Friday. Cairns Marlins looked well-organized offensively handing out 24 assists. It was a very good performance for swingman Tevin Jackson (201-94, college: McNeese St.) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 28 points and 14 rebounds. Point guard Damon Heuir (191-91, college: S.Utah) contributed with 31 points, 5 rebounds and 7 assists for the winners. American power forward Rashad Hassan (203-89, college: Savannah St.) replied with a double-double by scoring 26 points and 17 rebounds and his fellow American import guard Chris Fowler (185-93, college: Cent.Michigan) added 21 points, 10 rebounds and 6 assists in the effort for Rockhampton Rockets. Four Rockhampton Rockets players scored in double figures. Cairns Marlins moved-up to second place in League. Loser Rockhampton Rockets dropped to the eleventh position with six games lost. Cairns Marlins will face Rollers (#10) in Gold Coast in the next round and are hoping to win another game.
