Regular Season Round 13: Academia - Caciques 90-70

Date: June 16, 2017
An exciting game between Top Four teams was played in Montana. Second ranked Academia faced 3rd placed Caciques. Host Academia (8-3) smashed guests from Valleduparnga (6-5) 90-70. It ended at the same time the two-game winning streak of Caciques. The game was mostly controlled by Academia. Caciques managed to win fourth quarter 24-17. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Puerto Rican guard Gary Diaz (193-92) fired a double-double by scoring 19 points and 12 rebounds for the winners. The former international point guard Simon Granados (182-93) chipped in 24 points and 5 assists. Four Academia players scored in double figures. The former international forward Freddy Asprilla (208-88, college: Canisius) produced 18 points and 8 rebounds and Keiff-Walters Forbes added 15 points respectively for lost side. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Academia have an impressive series of seven victories in a row. Defending champion maintains second place with 8-3 record behind leader Fast Break. Caciques at the other side keep the third position with five games lost. Academia are again looking forward to face Caciques (#3) in Valleduparnga in the next round, which may be the game of the day. Caciques will have a break next round.
