Regular Season Round 16: Gold Coast R. - Mackay M. 79-93

Everything went according to plan when first ranked Mackay Meteors (8-1) defeated 12th ranked Rollers (3-6) in Gold Coast 93-79 on Friday. Mackay Meteors dominated down low during the game scoring 54 of its points in the paint compared to Rollers' 28. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 24 assists comparing to just 10 passes made by Rollers' players. It was a very good performance for guard Shaun Bruce (190-91) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 28 points and 11 assists. Guard Chris Cedar (188-88) contributed with 22 points and 7 rebounds for the winners. Four Mackay Meteors players scored in double figures. American forward Torrey Craig (198-90, college: USC Upstate) replied with a double-double by scoring 40 points (!!!), 13 rebounds and 4 assists and his fellow American import swingman Devon Sullivan (201-86, college: S.Connecticut) added 13 points in the effort for Rollers. Mackay Meteors maintains first position in League with 8-1 record. Loser Rollers dropped to the tenth place with six games lost. Mackay Meteors will face Gladstone Port City Power (#13) at home in the next round which should be an easy win for them. Rollers will play against the league's second-placed Cairns Marlins and hope to win that game.
