Regular Season Round 14: Brisbane S. - Toowoomba M. 100-40

Not a big story in a game when bottom-ranked Mountaineers (0-8) were outscored on the road by top-ranked Brisbane Spartans (9-0) 100-40 on Saturday. Brisbane Spartans dominated down low during the game scoring 58 of its points in the paint compared to Mountaineers' 30. Brisbane Spartans forced 26 Mountaineers turnovers and outrebounded them 48-31 including a 19-7 advantage in offensive rebounds. Brisbane Spartans looked well-organized offensively handing out 31 assists comparing to just 6 passes made by Mountaineers' players. Great defensive blocking was one of the keys in this match when Brisbane Spartans made 7 blocks. Center Maddie Allen (190) orchestrated the victory with a double-double by scoring 19 points, 12 rebounds, 5 assists and 4 blocks. Guard Ashleigh Karaitiana (183-92, college: Hawaii) contributed with 20 points for the winners. Five Brisbane Spartans players scored in double figures. Brisbane Spartans' coach felt very confident using entire bench and allowed the starting five to rest. Francis Donders replied with 18 points and 6 rebounds and American forward Ezria Parsons (183-83, college: S.Florida) added 7 points and 7 rebounds in the effort for Mountaineers. Despite that victory Brisbane Spartans went down to second position (League) due to points difference. Loser Mountaineers still closes the standings with eight games lost. Brisbane Spartans will face Clippers (#12) in Cotton Tree in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Mountaineers will play at home against Capitals and hope to get finally their first victory.
