Regular Season Round 14: Gladstone PCP - SW Metro P. 86-67

Everything went according to plan when fifth ranked Power (5-2) outplayed 8th ranked Pirates (3-5) in Gladstone 86-67 on Saturday. Power forced 23 Pirates turnovers. American forward Tabatha Richardson-Smith (183, college: Seton Hall) orchestrated the victory with a double-double by scoring 34 points (!!!), 13 rebounds and 6 assists. New Zealand forward Charmian Mellars (182-79) contributed with 17 points and 8 rebounds for the winners. Four Power players scored in double figures. American center Shelby Cheslek (196-92, college: Gonzaga) replied with a double-double by scoring 23 points and 14 rebounds and Madelyn Willey added 16 points and 6 assists in the effort for Pirates. Pirates' coach tested ten players seeing no chance for a win. Despite that victory Power went down to sixth position (League) due to points difference. Loser Pirates keep the eighth place with five games lost. Power will face higher ranked Meteorettes (#3) in Mackay in the next round and it may be quite challenging game. Pirates will play on the road against the league's leader Logan Thunder (#1) in Loganholme and hope to win that game.
