Regular Season Round 16: Hawthorn M. - Casey C. 76-88

Rather predictable result when sixth ranked Casey C. (7-6) won against 8th ranked Magic (5-8) in Hawthorn 88-76 on Saturday. The guests trailed by 10 points after first quarter, but they stormed back and won the game by 12 points. It was a great shooting night for Casey C. especially from behind the arc, where they had solid 52.6 percentage. It was a very good performance for American power forward Charles Polk (200-84, college: Butler) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 20 points and 11 rebounds. The other American import forward Raheem Lemons (196-93, college: Central State) contributed with 16 points, 6 rebounds and 4 assists for the winners. Forward Alex Bogart-King (200) replied with 20 points, 5 rebounds and 8 assists and point guard Kirk Smith (178) added 16 points, 6 rebounds and 5 assists in the effort for Magic. Five Casey C. and four Magic players scored in double figures. Magic's coach tested ten players in this game, but that didn't help. Newly promoted Casey C. maintains sixth position in League with 7-6 record. Loser Magic keeps the eighth place with eight games lost. Casey C. will face Whittlesea City (#12) in Mill Park in the next round where they are favorite. Magic will play on the road against Eltham Wildcats (#4) and hope to win that game.
