There was a surprise result when sixth ranked Norwood Flames (6-5) crushed top-ranked North Adelaide Rockets (8-3) in Marden 102-74 on Saturday. Norwood Flames looked well-organized offensively handing out 25 assists. North Adelaide Rockets were plagued by 25 personal fouls down the stretch. American players dominated the game. It was a very good performance for forward Jerrell Sanders (198, college: Ferris St.) who helped to win the game recording 25 points and 9 rebounds. Guard Kellen Smith (185-93, college: Saginaw Valley) contributed with a double-double by scoring 18 points, 5 rebounds and 10 assists for the winners. Five Norwood Flames players scored in double figures. Forward Alexander Starling (198-89, college: Beth.-Cookman) replied with 31 points and 8 rebounds and guard Aric Miller (190-90, college: Armstr.Atlantic) added 12 points, 6 rebounds and 6 assists in the effort for North Adelaide Rockets. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Norwood Flames maintains sixth position in League with 6-5 record. Loser North Adelaide Rockets still keep top place with three games lost. Norwood Flames will face South Adelaide Panthers (#7) in Park Holme in the next round. North Adelaide Rockets will play on the road against Eastern Mavericks (#10) in Mt. Barker and hope to win that game.
