Regular Season Round 16: Diamond V.E. - Werribee D. 79-67

There was a surprise result when eleventh ranked Diamond Valley Eagles (5-10) beat higher ranked Devils (8-7) in Greensborough 79-67 on Saturday. The game was mostly controlled by Diamond Valley Eagles. Devils was better in third quarter 20-19. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. They outrebounded Devils 46-32 including 16 on the offensive glass. Diamond Valley Eagles looked well-organized offensively handing out 21 assists comparing to just 7 passes made by Devils' players. American players dominated the game. It was a very good performance for forward Brandon Conley (198, college: ORU) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 34 points (!!!) and 16 rebounds. Guard Raanthony Sanders (190, college: Pensacola JC) contributed with 12 points, 5 rebounds and 6 assists for the winners. Guard Jeremy Smith (190, college: Nicholls St.) replied with 26 points and 8 rebounds and forward Fred Hunter (196-89, college: Nicholls St.) added 9 points and 6 rebounds in the effort for Devils. Diamond Valley Eagles moved-up to ninth place in League. Loser Devils keep the fifth position with seven games lost. Diamond Valley Eagles will face higher ranked Waverley Falcons (#3) in Mount Waverley in the next round and they do not belong to the favorites in that game. Devils will play at home against Stingrays and hope to win that game.
