Regular Season Round 13: Condores - Piratas 80-91

Date: June 17, 2017
Bottom-ranked Piratas managed to get a fourth victory, breaking the series of four consecutive losses on Saturday night. This time they won against sixth-ranked Condores in Cundinamarca 91-80. It ended at the same time the two-game winning streak of Condores. The guests trailed by 9 points after three quarters before their 34-14 charge, which allowed them to win the game. Piratas looked well-organized offensively handing out 22 assists. American guard Brandon Givens (198-87, college: NC-Wesleyan) stepped up and scored 32 points, 8 rebounds and 4 assists for the winners and the former international power forward Jairo Mendoza (203-85, college: New Orleans) chipped in 16 points and 8 rebounds (made all of his seven free throws). Givens is a former Eurobasket Summer League player, which is considered top international summer league in the market. At the losing side American point guard Ryan McCoy (183-87, college: La-Lafayette, agency: Haylett Sports) responded with a double-double by scoring 17 points, 14 rebounds and 5 assists and the other American import forward Lamar Roberson (203-86, college: La-Lafayette, agency: Haylett Sports) scored 21 points and 4 assists. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Condores' coach Tomas Diaz tested ten players, but that didn't help to avoid defeat in this game. Piratas (4-9) moved-up to seventh place, which they share with Aguilas. Loser Condores keep the sixth position with eight games lost. Piratas will have a break next round, and it should allow them to practice more before next game. Condores will play again against Piratas (#8) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
