Everything went according to plan when fifth ranked Sunshine CR (5-1) edged 10th ranked Maroochydore Clippers (2-5) in Cotton Tree 88-85 on Saturday. Sunshine CR made 31-of-41 free shots (75.6 percent) during the game, while Maroochydore Clippers only scored fifteen points from the stripe. Maroochydore Clippers were plagued by 31 personal fouls down the stretch. It was a very good performance for naturalized New Zealand guard Zeke Meehl (181-88) who helped to win the game recording 23 points (on 7-of-9 shooting from the field). American guard Lance Hurdle (188-87, college: Miami, FL) contributed with 20 points and 6 rebounds for the winners. Guard Matthew Kenyon (195-98) replied with a double-double by scoring 19 points, 12 rebounds and 4 assists (made all of his eight free throws) and American guard Breland Hogan (185, college: Grand Valley St.) added 22 points in the effort for Maroochydore Clippers. Four Sunshine CR and five Maroochydore Clippers players scored in double figures. Sunshine CR maintains fifth position in League with 5-1 record. Loser Maroochydore Clippers dropped to the twelfth place with five games lost. Sunshine CR will face Ipswich Force (#9) in Booval in the next round. Maroochydore Clippers will play on the road against Brisbane Spartans and hope to win that game.
