Regular Season Round 14: Waverley F. - S.Peninsula S. 74-53

Rather predictable result when fifth ranked Falcons (9-5) rolled over 7th ranked Sharks (5-8) in Mount Waverley 74-53 on Sunday. The game was mostly controlled by Falcons. Sharks was better in third quarter 16-13. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. They dominated on the defensive end, holding Sharks to just 6 points in fourth quarter. They outrebounded Sharks 45-22 including a 21-8 advantage in offensive rebounds. Falcons looked well-organized offensively handing out 26 assists comparing to just 12 passes made by Sharks' players. Tegan Cunninghan orchestrated the victory with a double-double by scoring 28 points, 11 rebounds and 5 assists. Forward Renae Mokrzycki (183-94, college: Idaho) contributed with 11 points and 9 rebounds for the winners. Falcons' coach felt very confident using 10 players and allowed the starting five to rest. American point guard Brittany Carter (183-93, college: Illinois) replied with 19 points and 5 assists and Innika Hodgson added 10 points in the effort for Sharks. Falcons moved-up to fourth place in League. Loser Sharks dropped to the ninth position with eight games lost. Falcons will face Diamond Valley Eagles (#10) in Greensborough in the next round where they are favorite. Sharks will play on the road against Boomers in Bulleen and hope to win that game.
