Regular Season Round 15: Townsville F. - Gold Coast R. 98-69
Date: June 23, 2017
Very predictable result in Townsville where sixth ranked Flames (6-3) smashed bottom-ranked Rollers (0-10) 98-69 on Friday. The game without a history. Flames led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. They made 17-of-22 free shots (77.3 percent) during the game. Flames outrebounded Rollers 41-27 including 28 on the defensive glass. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 22 assists. It was a great evening for Haylee Andrews who led her team to a victory scoring 20 points and 4 assists (on 9-of-11 shooting from the field). Forward Darcy Garbin (185-94) helped adding 18 points. Five Flames players scored in double figures. The best for the losing side was American forward Ashli Payne (183-95, college: E.Washington, agency: Gamble Sports Management) with 23 points and 6 rebounds and Shanelle Tolley scored 10 points. Since the result was very predictable, it gave the chance for the coaches to test many bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Flames moved-up to fifth place in League. Loser Rollers still closes the standings with ten games lost. Flames will face higher ranked Dolphins (#4) in Cairns in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Rollers will play at home against Cyclones (#9) and hope to get finally their first victory.
