Regular Season Round 15: Mandurah M. - Perth R. 90-61

There was no surprise in Mandurah where 7th ranked Redbacks (6-9) were outplayed by leader Magic (17-0) 90-61 on Saturday. Magic made 19-of-24 free shots (79.2 percent) during the game. They also forced 30 Redbacks turnovers and outrebounded them 38-27 including 17 on the offensive glass. Magic looked well-organized offensively handing out 23 assists. It was a great evening for forward Carly Boag (188-95, college: Minot St.) who led her team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 22 points, 13 rebounds, 5 assists and 8 steals. Nicolette Gilday helped adding 29 points, 6 rebounds and 5 assists. The best for the losing side was Rebecca Benson with 15 points and 5 rebounds and swingman Jessica Jakens (181-94) scored 14 points. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Since the result was very predictable, it gave the chance for the coaches to test many bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Magic maintains first place in League with 17-0 record. Loser Redbacks dropped to the eighth position with nine games lost. Magic will face league's second-placed Hawks in Floreat in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week. Redbacks will play at home against Cougars (#7) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
