Rather expected game in Alexandria where 3rd placed Spiders (9-7) were defeated by first ranked Sydney City Comets (12-1) 104-94 on Saturday. Sydney City Comets forced 26 Spiders turnovers. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 23 assists. Spiders were plagued by 28 personal fouls down the stretch. Guard Reece Craigie (188) stepped up and scored 26 points and 7 rebounds for the winners and forward Christian Jurlina (196, college: Whitworth) chipped in 13 points, 7 rebounds and 4 assists. Kulvir Grewal responded with a double-double by scoring 20 points, 11 rebounds and 5 assists and Daniel Moser scored 24 points and 9 rebounds. Five Sydney City Comets and four Spiders players scored in double figures. Sydney City Comets maintains first place in League with 12-1 record. Loser Spiders dropped to the fifth position with seven games lost. Sydney City Comets will face Newcastle Hunters (#10) in Broadmeadow in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Spiders will play at home against Maitland Mustangs (#3) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
