Everything went according to plan in Cheltenham where third ranked Spectres (6-7) beat 8th ranked Sabres (4-10) 94-86 on Saturday. Spectres forced 20 Sabres turnovers. Sabres were plagued by 25 personal fouls down the stretch. It was a great evening for guard Marena Whittle (180-94, college: N.Dakota St.) who led her team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 25 points, 11 rebounds and 8 assists. American guard Anita Brown (173, college: Akron) helped adding 22 points and 9 rebounds. The best for the losing side was American swingman Jasmine Gill (185-90, college: JMU, agency: Two Points) with 33 points (!!!) and 8 rebounds and naturalized Italian guard Nicole Romeo (168-89, college: Washington) scored 27 points, 6 rebounds, 8 assists and 7 steals. Spectres maintains third place in League with 6-7 record having one point less than leader Brisbane S. Loser Sabres keep the eighth position with ten games lost. Spectres will face Nationals (#5) in Belconnen in the next round. Sabres will play at home against Lady Bandits and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
