Rather predictable result in Wonthella where first ranked Buccaneers (16-2) smashed 3rd placed Wanneroo (13-6) 92-67 on Saturday. The game without a history. Buccaneers led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. Buccaneers forced 19 Wanneroo turnovers and outrebounded them 49-38 including a 32-19 advantage in defensive rebounds. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 26 assists. American forward Dwayne Benjamin (201-93, college: Oregon) stepped up with a double-double by scoring 35 points (!!!), 11 rebounds and 6 assists for the winners and his fellow American import forward Maurice Barrow (196-92, college: Fairfield) chipped in 10 points, 8 rebounds and 5 assists. Four Buccaneers players scored in double figures. The former international guard Reece Maxwell (186-90) responded with 12 points and 7 rebounds and naturalized Greek guard Trian Iliadis (190-89, college: ODU) scored 8 points, 6 rebounds and 4 assists. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Buccaneers maintains first place in League with 16-2 record. Loser Wanneroo keeps the third position with six games lost. Buccaneers will face league's second-placed Tigers in Willetton in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week. Wanneroo will play on the road against Lightning in North Lake and hope to win that game.
